ProtegoCast

Dec 2, 2020

In this episode, Jordan, Emma and Tylor are joined by not one, but TWO special guests, Kate Whittington and Anna Darron, Interpretation Developers at the Natural History Museum in London, to discuss Fantastic Beasts: The Wonder of Nature, a new exhibit opening at the museum on December 9th. The exhibit will, much like ProtegoCast, merge fact and fiction, celebrating the natural world and sharing the message of zoologists and conservationists like Newt Scamander working to protect the magical creatures we share the planet with.

Also in this episode:

  1. Kate and Anna share some early insight into what we can expect from the exhibit, and their favourite parts of the space
  2. Why are museums a great place for people to learn about animals / the beauty of the natural world and how to protect it?
  3. How has the Natural History Museum evolved over the years in its practices and the kinds of messages it sends to the public?
  4. Does the Wizarding World have museums? What would a Natural History Museum in the Wizarding World look like?

Are you planning on visiting the exhibit? Excited to get a look inside the exhibit digitally (via Google Arts & Culture)? Let us know your thoughts!

We’ll return soon for another episode exploring animal rights in the Wizarding World, but in the meantime, be sure to send us your thoughts via email, leave a review, join our Patreon, and - on behalf of all magical creatures - Protego Maxima!
